Buddhist Monks Walk For Peace
As a young adult I had a fascination of the different religions of the world. When I was in college, I took an elective course called Comparative Religion. I had heard about meditation. At the same time, I am not sure that I understood that this meditation was really a part of a pagan religion. I had seen some Confucius’ quotes that made sense. I was drawn to some of the beliefs of Taoism. I was just beginning to mature in Christ at the time and learning as time went on that none of these were the truth. The principles of these religions were not Christ’s way of doing things. I had much to learn, that is for sure. In each of these religions as well as other religions there can be found some elements of truth, but not the whole truth of the Bible and Jesus Christ. Many of these religions worshipped other gods, while others tell you look into yourself thus making yourself a god.
Buddhist Monks Walk for Peace
The Buddhist Monks have been walking through our communities on what they call a walk for peace. Th
ere have been many followers of Christ that have voiced their opinions of how we should feel about this walk. I have reshared a couple of posts on Facebook concerning this walk, too. I am going to admit I was uneasy about this walk but did not understand why I was feeling unrest in my spirit. And yes, it was in my spirit, not my flesh. So, I started to pray, not reacting, but praying.
Seeking Guidance
After thinking about what the right response would be and then studying the beliefs of the Buddhist, I did what I needed to do in the beginning. I sought God asking Him how would Jesus respond? It is so easy to choose a scripture to support our belief, but I wanted to know what Jesus would do if He was here during our time because without a doubt when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, He is always with us.
Researching Buddhist Beliefs
After researching the Buddhist’s beliefs, I realized that the most important thing I could do is to pray that God will open their eyes to the need of a Savior. Their beliefs are centered on discipline in their lives with the goal of acquiring enlightenment. Yes, they are very disciplined. Dear followers of Christ we are truly blessed that we know that true enlightenment comes through the true Light, Jesus Christ. In John 14:6 (KJV) “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
What Would Jesus Do?
So, the response that followers of Christ should have is to pray for them that God will do whatever He needs to do to awakened them to the need of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Next when they come in our paths, we should be respectful, we should show the love, peace, kindness, and goodness of God, not representing ourselves but Jesus. In Mark 16:15 (KJV) “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
Do I admire or embrace what they are doing? I do not. When the blind lead the blind both will fall in the ditch. In Matthew 15:14 (KJV) “Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.” The word tells us to avoid the very appearance of evil. There are no gray areas in the Word of God. You cannot embrace the ways of the world and the way of Christ. In Romans 12:2 (KJV) “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” We cannot serve two masters. We all need to determine who is our Daddy, Yahweh (God) or the devil, the father of lies. (ref. John 8:44)
Yahweh is a Jealous God
The God we serve, Yahweh is a jealous God. He desires to have our entire devotion. In James 4:4-5 (KJV) “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?” Our devotion cannot be divided and watered down because the world around us embraces a multiple number of religions. We cannot allow the influence of other religions invade our relationship with God, Yahweh. The precious Holy Spirit dwells within us. We need to be careful that we do not offend Him by allowing other religious ideas to taint our walk with God. We should keep our focus on Jesus Christ and His example of how to live out this life. He never pointed out the good of other religious activities in His day. He pointed to our Heavenly Father. He was quick to say He only did what the Father instructed Him to do. We should keep our eyes on Christ and imitate His ways. In Ephesians 5:1,2 (KJV) “Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.”
Importance of Studying the Word of God
Truth is many of the followers of Christ do not really know what is written between the covers of the Holy Bi
ble. They sit on the pew on Sundays but do not open the Word of God during the week. 2 Timothy 2:15-16 (KJV) “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.” Personally, I love the Word of God. It has not always been that way. In the past, I made sure that I read just enough scriptures each day to ease my conscious, to just to be able to say I read my Bible every day. A few years back I heard a woman talk about how she loved the Word of God. Do not get me wrong I did love His Word, but there was not that hunger that made me want to go deep. I just accepted whatever the man or woman of God taught during church services. I started praying that God would stir up a love for His Word in my heart and He did just that. What I have found is that the more I learn the more there is for me to learn about this
beautiful way and His Word. I know some you when you read this post will find it offensive. Guess what! The Word of God can be offensive. It is sharper than a two-edged sword. (ref. Hebrews 4:12) My advice would be that if this word hits you wrong, then pray about it and ask the Holy Spirit if it is truth or not. After all He is the teacher. That is exactly what I would do. God bless you!
Shalom (the true peace comes from Abba Father)
With much love,
Terry

Great response to the monks and the walk for so called peace. Their peace and our peace are starkly different but it’s so hard to tell that to people who worship through the flesh. Thank you for the research. I love the blog.
